When doing due diligence on bestplaces.net, there are "townships"

In some of the states I’m researching, I’m getting two separate options when plugging in a city…the “city” and a “township” version of it. How can I tell which one the listing is actually located in? The statistical data varies greatly between the two of them.

Cities are within townships which are within counties. Sometimes all three have the same name–the town of Smith is located in Smith township within Smith county. Or at least that’s how it works in Illinois.

Gotcha thanks Sisyphus! I noticed a lot of townships in Illinois, LOL
