Lots of Older Mobile Homes (60's & 70's)

About 6 mths ago, I bought a park that has lots of older homes. While they have been leasing up, I have lost lots of new possible tenants because the rooms are so small.

I was wondering if any of you have torn out the wall dividing 2 small bedrooms in a 3 bdrm unit and if it made the unit more marketable…now having 2 somewhat larger bedrooms.

Also, I was wondering if any of you have had any electrical problems with the older units, due to aluminum wiring, cracking wire insulation or other age related problems

On the first item, yes, I’ve town out interior walls and made a three bedroom a two bedroom, I’ve done it to expand the master bedroom only, as that’s a big driver to the choice to buy or rent the home. I leave the kid rooms tiny. Since the interior walls in a mobile home are not load bearing (singly wide only), it’s really easy to do.

But no, we don’t have a lot of electrical problems. We check out the home when we redo it, and normally it’s not an issue again.
