Cleaning of m/h condenser A coil

As owners of 17 units, in preparation for the upcoming a/c season we inquired about cleaning and servicing the various units. We were told that “the “A” coil must be removed to properly clean and service these units”. Is this correct??? If so, is $125.00 ea. a reasonable price??? These units are all single wide and average about 1270 sq. ft. We were also told these units require a 3.5 ton a/c??? Is that correct?? I should mention these mobile homes are in east Texas. Roughly three hours north of Houston

It is generally recommended to have the evaporator coil, also known as the “A” coil, cleaned during routine air conditioning maintenance. However, whether or not the coil needs to be removed depends on the specific unit and its design. It’s possible that the technician you spoke with may need to remove the coil to properly clean it for your particular units.

As for the cost of the cleaning and servicing, $125 per unit seems reasonable depending on the extent of the cleaning and servicing required. You could always get quotes from other companies in the area to compare prices and ensure that you are getting a fair deal.

In terms of the recommended size of the AC unit, 3.5 tons may be appropriate for single-wide mobile homes that are roughly 1270 sq. ft. However, it’s difficult to give a definitive answer without considering additional factors such as the insulation, orientation of the home, and local climate. It would be best to consult with a licensed HVAC technician to ensure that the recommended size is appropriate for your specific situation
