There is an abandoned trailer in my NC park and unable to locate owner via skipsearch and both NC & VA DMVs do not have record of title. The NC Court will not grant possession without owner receiving sheriff papers.
What are my options so someone can renovate and live in it, as I don’t want the hassle?
I just spent a few minutes looking through the NC DOT/DMV, and it seems like they have a Bonding process, but it is not valid for Lien Sales/Abandonment Sales.
The only other option I could think of is to try and title it as a New Build/Rebuild.
You can argue that the home was a total beater and needed rebuilding.

Hi, if you are in the Asheville area there is a marvelous DMV officer Nathan not sure of last name spelling Schaff or something like that. He will come to your mobile and help you with the process. Maybe all NC DMV have this lost title service. Good luck.
I would serve the papers to the owner at the home itself. You can hand deliver to the front door and send certified mail, which will be returned undelivered. Then you have proof of delivery.
That is incorrect. Per the Sheriff and Judge who I stood in front of while in court, you must serve the person where they currently live. If they vacated, then you have to find them and serve in the county/state where they currently reside.

I’m in Halifax County on the other side of the state.
I’m in Iredell Co. We’d had abandoned ones before, but most of them, we knew who the owners were. And many of them didn’t even bother registering them.
Do you know the owner’s name at least? I don’t manage the park here anymore, but I’m still sticking around the forum. I could try and help you do some more digging if you want.
