Does anyone know what the process is for installing submeters?
Do I need to get a permit from the city? Or do I need a simple “ok” from the city? Or better yet, do I even have to let the city know?
Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! 
You should speak with your city utilities department as well as your state Public Utilities Commission. Good luck.

Def. Should check to see if permits are required. Some times we see tenants complain and then the city gets involved. Penalty from the city is the last thing you want to deal with.
