Sewer hookup costs!

WOW.

We met with the sewer contractor in our 12 lot park yesterday. To convert 12 existing and 3 future units to sewer, including everything (grass, hooking right to the homes, etc) Is $40,000! Holy cow. The contractor want to do the job “right” with new pipe right to the homes. He said the old pipe may be “orangeburg” (basically rolled up tar paper prone to collapse). We are thinking of just having them hook up to the existing pipes where they join and go into the tanks. We figure if it ain’t broke, DON’T FIX IT. We can do a LOT of repair for the $30,000 left over from the basic job.

Advice?
