Chemical root killer and clay tile

Has anyone tried using a chemical root killer on clay tile sewer lines in a park?

My park has quite a few trees, and we have to snake a main line every other month or so, which seems pretty standard.

I figure the combination of snaking the lines and having tree roots force their way through cracks can’t be good for the relatively brittle clay lines though. If a chemical root killer or other treatment could be effective I wonder if it could extend the life of the lines.

If you kill the roots, you might as well cut down the entire tree. Otherwise you’ll just have a bunch of dead trees!

Cutting down the trees isn’t a bad idea. If you get high winds they could fall on a home at any time, causing a much larger problem than busted lines.
