Temporary road fix with gravel?

Hello,

I am looking at a park where a 15 foot section of the road appears to be demolished and is covered in mud and water. You can not drive through this unless you have a large truck or a 4x4. However there is another entrance to the park so the tenants can still get by.

The asphalt repair guy told me he would fix all the potholes in the park for $3000 but this section of the road would be very expensive to repair.

As a temporary fix I asked if we could dig out the mud and put gravel in this section. He said yes and offered to do it for an additional $2000. The park is already pretty ugly so a section of gravel would not make it any worse.

Is this a bad idea or a way to make the road usable until I get more cash to fix it correctly? Ideas or suggestions?
