Evaluating a concrete pour

The concrete was getting rough on the entrance way pad to one of the lots, so I wanted to tear it out and replace it.Below is the contractor’s job, with photos taken about 4-6 hours after the pour.Did he do a good job?  There are minor cracks, but I’ve heard that isn’t necessarily a sign of a bad pour.  However, I don’t see any control joints cut, is that a problem for a slab of this size?Bottom line is, should I be concerned, or should I go ahead and pay him?https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2467033/IMG_1558.JPGhttps://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2467033/IMG_1559.JPGhttps://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2467033/IMG_1560.JPG

Cracks in concrete are a indication of a poorly prepared base or it was allowed to dry too fast. Either way cracks in new concrete are definatly a sign of a poorly done pour by someone that does not know have a clue what they are doing.
They will only get worse with time and I would demand the pour be removed and redone if you want it to last.
He would only get paid by me when the job is done right.
